Trump Steps Down

Not Donald Trump But Lara Trump

Lara Trump announced on Sunday that she intends to step down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) during the next meeting.

Several Republican senators are encouraging her to pursue the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by Florida’s Marco Rubio, who is expected to become Secretary of State. Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, confirmed she is giving serious thought to the possibility.

On Sunday evening, Lara Trump shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting the accomplishments achieved during her tenure with the RNC. These include breaking all previous fundraising records, assembling a large team of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity, and mobilizing millions of voters for early voting in the 2024 elections.

She stated, “The job I came to do is now complete,” expressing gratitude to RNC Chair Michael Whatley and her father-in-law for entrusting her with the role. Lara Trump noted her pride in their shared accomplishments.

Last week, Donald Trump requested that Whatley remain in his position as RNC Chair moving forward.

If the Senate confirms Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would appoint an interim replacement to serve until a special election in 2026. This election would determine who completes Rubio’s term, set to end in 2028.

In an interview with the Associated Press published on Sunday, Lara Trump said she is “seriously considering” pursuing the Senate seat. “To be completely transparent, I don’t know what that would look like,” she said. “But I absolutely want to gather all the necessary information to determine if this is a real opportunity for me. And yes, I would 100% consider it.”

Lara Trump’s decision will be closely watched as Florida prepares for this critical appointment.
