Vice President Vance assured Americans in a recent interview on CBS News’s Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan that while gas and grocery prices will eventually decrease, it will take some time for those changes to take effect.
“Prices are going to come down, but it’s going to take a little bit of time,” Vance explained during the Sunday interview. “President Trump has been in office for only five days, and already, he’s accomplished more than Joe Biden did in four years.”
Vance emphasized the fast-paced action of the new administration, stating that they’re working with Congress and continuing to issue executive orders to tackle pressing economic issues. When Brennan pointed out that Trump had campaigned on lowering grocery costs, she asked how the new executive orders specifically address those concerns. Vance responded that several measures were already bringing jobs back to the United States, which he described as essential for driving down prices.
“Capital investment and job creation are key factors in lowering prices for consumers,” Vance explained. “At the same time, it helps increase wages, allowing people to afford the essentials they need.”
He also highlighted energy prices as a significant factor in everyday costs. “Donald Trump has already signed multiple executive actions to lower energy prices,” Vance said. “As a result, we’ll eventually see lower costs at the gas pump and in grocery stores, but it won’t happen overnight. Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
President Trump has wasted no time, signing 26 executive orders during his first week in office. These actions addressed various issues, including immigration policy, diversity and equity initiatives, and reversing Biden-era executive orders—many of which focused on climate change. While these measures are part of the administration’s broader strategy, Vance reiterated that it will take time for Americans to feel the full impact in their daily lives.
