Trump’s Medical Report Released

White House physician Capt. Sean Barbabella released a memo on Sunday offering a rare look into President Trump’s current health status. According to the results from his first physical exam since beginning his second term, there are no significant changes, and the president “remains in excellent health.”

At 78 years old, Trump is the oldest president to be inaugurated. During his first term and throughout his campaign, he repeatedly declined to release full medical records that might demonstrate his physical and cognitive health. The findings from this latest physical were only made public with his personal consent.

The three-page memo detailed several test results from what Trump described as a five-hour visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday. Among the results, the physical exam found that his eyesight is normal, his lungs are clear, and his thyroid and lymph nodes appear to be functioning normally.

The physician also documented a scar on Trump’s right ear, a result of the gunshot wound he sustained during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. Additionally, the memo noted that the president underwent a colonoscopy last summer, during which a benign polyp was removed, and he was diagnosed with diverticulitis.

His heart function was reported to be normal, and a neurological examination revealed “no abnormalities in his mental status.” Trump also scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a widely used screening tool for detecting cognitive impairment.

Dr. Barbabella wrote that the president shows “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” and credited Trump’s active lifestyle with playing a major role in his continued well-being. He further stated that Trump is “fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”

The most detailed assessment of Trump’s health prior to this came in 2018, when a health summary noted he had high cholesterol and weighed 239 pounds. By 2020, his weight had increased to 244 pounds, though his cholesterol had improved. In this latest physical, Trump’s weight was listed at 224 pounds, and his cholesterol levels are now categorized within the “optimal” and “desirable” ranges, likely aided by medications such as rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.
