Special Poll
A recent poll indicates that President-elect Donald Trump’s favorability has increased by 6 points following his election earlier this month. According to an Emerson College poll released Tuesday, Trump’s favorability now stands at 54 percent, up from 48 percent before the election.
The poll revealed that men view Trump most favorably, with 61 percent expressing a positive opinion, compared to 48 percent of women. Among racial groups, 59 percent of white voters hold a favorable view of Trump, along with 53 percent of Hispanic voters, while only 28 percent of Black voters share the same view.
Age also played a role in Trump’s favorability ratings. He is most positively viewed by Americans in their 40s and 50s, with 60 percent expressing approval. Fifty-five percent of voters under 30 view him favorably, while favorability among those over 70 stands at 48 percent.
The poll also explored reactions to the election outcome. Forty-six percent of voters said they were surprised that Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris. Among Harris voters, 67 percent expressed surprise, compared to 71 percent of Trump voters who said they were not surprised by the results.
This post-election boost in favorability highlights varied reactions across demographics, underscoring the complexity of voter sentiment in the wake of the election.
