Trump To Be Honored With What?

Time magazine is reportedly set to name President-elect Donald Trump as its annual “Person of the Year,” according to a new report.

Politico revealed on Wednesday that the iconic magazine plans to announce the decision Thursday morning. The report, citing three sources familiar with the matter, also noted that Trump will be in New York City that morning to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

In response to inquiries, Time magazine stated to The Hill that it “does not comment on its annual choice for Person of the Year prior to publication.” The magazine confirmed that the announcement will be made on Thursday, December 12, via its website, Time.com.

On its finalists’ webpage, Time described Trump’s election victory as “a stunning political comeback.” The description highlights that he reshaped the American electorate by energizing young male voters who contributed to his decisive win, which included securing the popular vote for the first time and flipping every swing state to red. The magazine also noted the historic nature of Trump’s 2024 victory, given that he had previously lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden and was the first convicted felon to be elected President after being found guilty earlier this year on 34 counts of fraud by a New York jury. Additionally, his win makes him the oldest person ever elected to the presidency.

This recognition would mark Trump’s second time as Time’s Person of the Year, the first being in 2016 following his initial presidential election victory. The announcement underscores the ongoing historical significance of his political career and the polarizing nature of his return to the White House.
