Trump Takes Cognitive Test, Results Were

President Trump revealed Friday that he took a cognitive exam as part of his annual physical, and said the results would be made public over the weekend. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Florida, Trump described the exam as thorough and said he felt the results confirmed he’s in strong health.

“Overall I felt I was in very good shape. Good heart. A good soul. Very good soul,” he said with a smile. “I took, I wanted to be a little different than Biden. I took a cognitive test. I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right.”

Trump emphasized that the cognitive portion was intentional and partly meant to draw contrast with former President Joe Biden, whose mental sharpness has come under scrutiny from voters and critics alike. The president added that full results from his physical would be shared with the public on Sunday.

Now 78 and set to turn 79 in June, Trump would be 82 at the end of his current term, narrowly surpassing Biden as the oldest sitting U.S. president in history. Throughout his first term, Trump often touted his cognitive test performance, referencing his ability to recall and repeat sequences of words as a demonstration of his mental fitness.

Since leaving office in 2020, Trump has offered fewer public updates about his health, but he has repeatedly turned attention to Biden’s age and acuity during campaign events, using it as a key contrast point between the two men.

While some critics have questioned whether Trump’s own health should receive the same scrutiny, the former president’s decision to take and publicize a cognitive exam appears to be aimed at reinforcing his message that he remains mentally sharp and physically capable heading into the second half of his term.
