Trump Signs Major Disaster Declaration

President Trump announced Sunday that he has signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, following the devastating floods that have claimed dozens of lives.

“I just signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “These families are facing an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost and many still missing. The Trump Administration is working closely with State and Local Leaders.”

He noted that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited the flood zone alongside Governor Greg Abbott to oversee relief efforts. “Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard, along with State First Responders, have already saved over 850 lives. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!” Trump added.

According to the Associated Press, at least 67 people have died in the flooding across central Texas, which remains under widespread flood alerts. In Kerr County alone, the local sheriff confirmed 59 deaths 38 adults and 21 children as of Sunday.

Governor Abbott publicly thanked Trump on social media, writing on X, “Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, for your dedication to Texas. Collaboration between our state, local, and federal partners is critical to our state’s recovery.”
