At a rally in Milwaukee on Friday, former President Trump expressed frustration over ongoing microphone issues, disrupting what was supposed to be his last planned stop in Wisconsin, a key swing state. Held at the Fiserv Forum, the same venue as July’s GOP convention, the event was marked by a series of audio difficulties that prompted the crowd to chant, “Fix the mic,” as Trump resorted to holding the microphone by hand.
“This mic is terrible. And then they don’t pay the contractor. I tell them, ‘Don’t pay the contractor,’ and then they write a story saying, ‘Trump doesn’t pay his bills; he’s a bad guy,’” he remarked, highlighting his frustration with the sound issues.
Growing visibly irritated, Trump added, “Do you want to see me knock the hell out of people backstage?” describing the situation as “pretty stupid.” His exasperation continued as he said, “I’m up here seething. I’m working hard with this ridiculous mic. My left arm’s sore, and soon my right arm will be too, plus I’m straining my throat because of these people. Here’s a deal for you: pretend you’re hearing everything perfectly, and I’ll come back to do another rally, OK?” At one point, he even slammed the microphone against the podium in frustration.
Despite the technical disruptions, Trump’s remarks covered familiar themes from his recent speeches. He criticized former First Lady Michelle Obama as “nasty,” questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’s qualifications, and reiterated his commitment to tightening immigration at the southern border.
Friday’s rally in Milwaukee was Trump’s last scheduled visit to Wisconsin, but he is set to continue his campaign with multiple events in the coming days. His next stops include rallies in North Carolina and Virginia on Saturday, North Carolina and Georgia on Sunday, and North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan on Monday, as he maintains a busy itinerary across several battleground states.
