Special Poll
Former President Donald Trump is promoting a new internal poll that suggests Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) is the leading contender in a potential race for Florida governor.
The poll, conducted by Florida-based Republican firm Victory Insights, was shared by Trump on Truth Social. It indicates that Donalds holds 31% support in a hypothetical Republican primary. Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez (R) follows with 4%, while Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson (R) has 3%, and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez sits at 1%.
So far, no Republican candidates have officially entered the race for governor. However, Donalds has reportedly informed Florida GOP donors that he intends to run. Both Simpson and Nuñez have also been mentioned as possible contenders.
Given Trump’s deep political influence in Florida, his endorsement is expected to be a major factor in the Republican primary. As a strong Trump ally, Donalds has supported the former president over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in key political moments. He was also seated in Trump’s box at the Republican National Convention last year, and just last month, Trump publicly acknowledged him at the inaugural parade.
“Stand up, Byron,” Trump said at the event. “What a future this one has.”
With the governor’s race heating up, all eyes are on Donalds and Trump’s continued influence in shaping Florida’s political landscape.
