Trump Picks New Governor

Vivek Ramaswamy Takes First Step Toward Ohio Governor’s Race

Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate, has officially started the process of running for governor of Ohio. On Friday, he submitted the necessary paperwork to the Ohio Secretary of State, signaling his intent to enter the 2026 race.

His campaign has filed the required Designation of Treasurer form, which is a crucial first step for any candidate. This filing allows a campaign to legally receive donations and spend funds in preparation for an election. Additionally, a formal registration was submitted for his political committee under the name “Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio.”

While the paperwork does not explicitly confirm his candidacy for governor, Ramaswamy has strongly hinted at his plans to run in the upcoming election.

This move comes just weeks after he stepped down from his role in President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Ramaswamy, who gained national recognition during his 2024 presidential campaign, remains a well-known figure among conservative voters. A recent poll suggests he would have strong support from Ohio Republicans if he decides to run.

Although he has never held elected office, Ramaswamy has earned endorsements from key Republican leaders, including Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague and U.S. Senators Rick Scott (Florida) and Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee).

As Ohio’s 2026 gubernatorial race takes shape, Ramaswamy’s potential candidacy is expected to draw significant attention.
