Trump Nemesis To Be Deported?

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) is gathering signatures from his supporters in an effort to deport Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), a fellow member of Congress.

Gill has previously called for Omar’s deportation, arguing that she prioritizes undocumented immigrants from Somalia, her country of birth, over the interests of the United States.

The petition, along with an email from Gill, was first reported by Axios.

Omar, who fled Somalia due to civil war and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, has long been a target of Republican criticism, particularly following her outspoken opposition to President Trump during his first administration.

In his email to supporters, Gill stated, “We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country. And frankly, America would be a much better place if she were sent back to Somalia.” The email, which included a photo of Gill alongside Trump, repeated past accusations that Omar has advised undocumented immigrants on how to avoid deportation.

“Recently, it came out that Ilhan Omar is hosting free workshops for Somalians who are in our country illegally, on how to evade ICE and deportation,” he wrote. “It could not be more blatant: Ilhan Omar is more loyal to illegal Somalians than she is to the United States, or the office she was elected to.”

Gill’s comments have drawn criticism from multiple Democratic lawmakers, who condemned his remarks as inflammatory and inappropriate.
