Trump Nemesis In Big Trouble

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is considering inviting Jack Smith, the special counsel who spearheaded the federal probes into President-elect Donald Trump, to testify before his committee.

“Everything’s on the table,” Jordan remarked to journalists on Wednesday, indicating he has begun reviewing Smith’s findings.

Smith was at the helm of investigations concerning Trump’s handling of classified documents post-presidency and his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. This month, Smith concluded his report on the election interference case, suggesting that a conviction could have been secured had Trump not won the 2024 election, which granted him immunity from prosecution.

While the report detailing the classified documents investigation remains unpublished, outgoing Attorney General Merrick Garland has announced plans to distribute it to the leaders of both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees.

Representative Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, has consistently criticized Smith’s investigations as biased, a claim Smith robustly refuted in his report. With one of Smith’s reports now public and his resignation from the Justice Department official, it sets the stage for him potentially testifying before Congress—a common practice for special counsels at the end of their service.
