Special Poll
During an interview with television personality “Dr. Phil” McGraw, former President Donald Trump made a bold claim, suggesting that he would emerge victorious in California if the vote counting was done by Jesus Christ himself. Trump remarked, “Democrats play a different game. And you have ballot harvesting, but you also have people getting ballots. I mean, in California, you have people getting seven ballots.”
He continued, “If Jesus Christ came down and was the vote counter, I would win California, OK? In other words, if we had an honest vote counter, a really honest vote counter — I do great with Hispanics, great, I mean at a level no Republican has ever done. But if we had an honest vote counter, I would win California.”
Dr. Phil, appearing taken aback by the assertion, asked, “You think so?”
Trump, who is once again the GOP nominee for president, reiterated his belief, attributing part of the issue to mail-in voting. “I think so. I do. I see it. I go around California, they have Trump signs all over the place,” he said. “It’s a very dishonest [state]; everything is mail-in. They send out 38 million ballots, I think it is.”
Despite these claims, there is no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud in California. The last Republican candidate to win the state was George H. W. Bush in 1988. In the 2020 election, President Biden won California by a substantial margin, nearly 30 points.
In response to Trump’s comments, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign issued a statement, suggesting that Trump’s remarks reflected a level of delusion that even Dr. Phil might struggle to diagnose. The campaign also criticized Trump’s record, particularly his refusal to accept the 2020 election results and his association with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022.
“As Donald Trump’s friend Dr. Phil says, ‘you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge,’” noted Sarafina Chitika, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign. “And he still doesn’t acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election four years ago – despite the violent insurrection launched in his name. While Donald Trump refuses to acknowledge the facts, voters know Vice President Harris is the candidate to lead us into the future.”
Adding to the criticism, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) also commented, suggesting that Jesus might not intervene for someone found liable by a jury for sexual assault. Lieu further noted that, given Jesus’s divine understanding of the universe, He would confirm Trump’s loss in several key states, including California.
