MSNBC Host Compares Biden and Trump with Board Game Metaphors
MSNBC host Alicia Menendez made a colorful comparison between President Biden and former President Trump, suggesting Biden is strategically playing “chess” while Trump is engaged in a chaotic game of “Hungry Hungry Hippos.” This remark was made during a discussion on Biden’s recent diplomatic activities at the G-7 summit in Italy.
Alongside co-hosts Michael Steele and Symone Sanders-Townsend, Menendez praised Biden’s effective leadership and global engagement. The panel, which also included Lincoln Project co-founder Reed Galen and Politico’s Eugene Daniels, emphasized the White House’s intent to highlight Biden’s international leadership.
“It’s amazing because you think about the fact that the president is playing chess, and the former president at best is playing, like, Hungry Hungry Hippos,” Menendez said.
Sanders-Townsend humorously added that Trump was playing Uno, perpetually drawing “draw four” cards, a comment that was met with laughter from the group.
Highlighting Biden’s extensive schedule, Sanders-Townsend noted the contrast between Biden’s active international presence and Trump’s public appearances. She pointed out Biden’s recent travels, including a trip to Normandy, France, to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, followed by participation in the G-7 summit in Italy, and a fundraising event in Los Angeles.
Sanders-Townsend remarked on the stark “split screen” between Biden’s diplomatic efforts and Trump’s ongoing rallies, suggesting that the comparison should not be underestimated. Biden’s LA event reportedly raised over $30 million for his campaign, underscoring his active engagement both domestically and internationally.
