Trump Inauguration Bad News

Due to the extremely cold conditions expected in Washington, D.C., the inauguration ceremony for President-elect Trump will now take place indoors. The event, originally planned for the West Front of the Capitol, will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda. President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance are set to be sworn in at this new location.

In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the need for safety due to the harsh weather conditions, which include a significant windchill that could send temperatures plummeting to record lows. An Arctic blast affecting the area has prompted these precautionary measures. Trump expressed his concern for the safety of the attendees, including law enforcement, first responders, and the general public, advising everyone to wear warm clothing if they plan to attend.

Following the official swearing-in, Trump plans to meet with supporters at the Capital One Arena to continue the inaugural celebrations with a traditional parade. The decision to move the event indoors mirrors precautions taken during former President Reagan’s inauguration in 1985, which was also relocated due to severe cold. Weather forecasts predict low temperatures in the low 20s for the day, with wind chill factors making it feel much colder, potentially in the single digits. Additionally, a recent snowstorm may leave fresh snow on the ground, adding to the wintry atmosphere of the day.
