Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was hospitalized on Tuesday after suffering an allergic reaction, according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed that Noem was “alert” and recovering following the incident. She said the decision to transport the secretary to the hospital was made “out of an abundance of caution.”
CNN reported later in the day that Noem was taken by ambulance to a hospital in the Washington, D.C. area. At the hospital, she remained conscious and had communicated with both her doctor and members of her security team.
