Trump is planning a high-end fundraising event in Atlanta on Wednesday. In a private speech at this gathering, he renewed his challenge for Biden to face him in a debate, despite Trump’s own refusal to join the Republican primary debates. Biden previously indicated that his decision to debate Trump would hinge on Trump’s conduct.
The fundraiser took place at the Palm Beach, Florida residence of billionaire John Paulson. Notable attendees included Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets; Harold Hamm, an energy sector executive; and Pepe Fanjul, Sr., a prominent figure in the sugar industry.
Melania Trump, the former first lady, was also in attendance. Her appearances have been sparse during her husband’s 2024 campaign trail, but she is gradually making more public appearances. She plans to host an upcoming event for the Log Cabin Republicans.
Speakers at the event included Trump’s former primary competitors: Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. These individuals have become key advocates for Trump and are considered potential vice-presidential candidates.
The dinner for the evening featured a sophisticated menu consisting of endive and frisée salad, filet au poivre, and a pavlova topped with fresh berries for dessert, as shared by an aide.
