President Trump is urging Republicans to consider expelling Democratic lawmakers who are pursuing new impeachment efforts against him, slamming their latest resolution as politically motivated and baseless.
In a post late Thursday on Truth Social, Trump blasted what he called the “Radical Left Lunatics” behind the new push, accusing them of weaponizing impeachment for the sake of political theater. “The Democrats are really out of control. They have lost everything, especially their minds!” he wrote. “They’re at it again trying to impeach DONALD J. TRUMP for the 20th time and they can’t even explain why.”
Trump singled out two Democratic members of Congress backing the resolution, calling them “No Name” lawmakers and “total Whackjobs,” and claimed they admitted they didn’t know the grounds for impeachment. He suggested that if Republicans were serious, they’d flip the script. “Maybe it’s time we start thinking about expelling them from Congress,” Trump said. “They’ve committed real crimes especially during elections.”
Trump went on to mock the Democrats’ accusations, pointing to issues like the southern border, inflation, the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and foreign policy blunders under previous administrations as the true disasters. “Maybe I should be impeached for fixing the mess they left us,” he added sarcastically.
This latest impeachment resolution was introduced by Rep. Shri Thanedar of Michigan, who announced earlier this week that he filed seven articles of impeachment against Trump. Among the listed grievances: the wrongful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a U.S. legal resident sent to El Salvador under Trump’s orders, and actions taken by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been slashing federal funds without congressional signoff.
Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois co-sponsored the resolution on Tuesday, signaling growing frustration among progressive Democrats with Trump’s aggressive use of executive authority early in his second term.
Trump, still defiant, accused Democrats of reusing “the same tired playbook” they deployed during his first presidency, when he was impeached twice and ultimately acquitted both times in the Senate. “They’re dishonest, desperate, and they never learn,” he said in his post, framing the new resolution as a political stunt rather than a legitimate legal effort.
