Former President Trump Recounts Being Shot at Pennsylvania Rally
Former President Trump shared on his Truth Social platform on Saturday that he was injured by a bullet at his rally in Pennsylvania. He described a “whizzing sound” and hearing “shots” before realizing he had been hit in his right ear.
“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” Trump wrote. “I knew immediately something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet ripping through the skin. There was much bleeding, and I then realized what was happening.”
Trump was quickly escorted off the stage at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, less than 10 minutes after it began. He was talking about immigration when shots rang out. Trump grabbed his ear before being instructed to get down.
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, explained that a “suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally venue” around 6:15 p.m. “U.S. Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased,” Guglielmi said. “The Secret Service responded quickly with protective measures, and the former president is safe and being evaluated.”
Tragically, one rally attendee died, and two others were critically wounded.
Trump expressed his gratitude and sorrow in his post: “I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of law enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person killed at the rally and to the family of another person who was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.”
