Trump Gives Bad News To Americans

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump stood by his decision to impose sweeping tariffs on the United States’ three largest trading partners, acknowledging that while there may be some economic hardship, he believes it is a necessary sacrifice for the country’s long-term prosperity.

Posting on Truth Social from his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump defended the newly signed 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico, as well as 10% tariffs on Chinese imports—a move that many experts warn could escalate into a major trade war. Responding to critics, he insisted that the tariffs were justified due to longstanding trade imbalances and concerns over crime and illegal drug flows from these countries.

“The ‘Tariff Lobby,’ led by the Globalist, and always wrong, Wall Street Journal, is fighting hard to justify countries like Canada, Mexico, and China continuing their decades-long RIPOFF OF AMERICA,” Trump wrote. “Those days are over!”

Trump argued that businesses could avoid tariffs entirely by manufacturing products within the United States, claiming this approach would usher in a new era of economic prosperity.

“This will be the Golden Age of America!” he continued. “Will there be some pain? Yes, maybe (and maybe not!). But we will make America great again, and it will all be worth the price that must be paid. We are now a country being run with common sense—and the results will be spectacular!”

In a follow-up post, Trump suggested that the U.S. does not actually need Canadian products, even going as far as to say that Canada should become America’s ‘Cherished 51st State.’ Canadian officials have repeatedly dismissed such remarks as unrealistic and unwelcome.

The new tariffs, which Trump signed into law on Saturday, are scheduled to take effect on Tuesday. Canadian energy imports will be taxed at 10%, and no exemptions were included in the orders. Additionally, the agreement contains a clause stating that tariffs could increase further if Canada, Mexico, or China retaliate.

The move has sparked concern among economists and business leaders, who warn that higher costs on imported goods could trickle down to consumers and further strain the U.S. economy. However, Trump remains confident that the tariffs will ultimately strengthen American industries and reduce dependence on foreign markets.
