Special Poll
President Trump’s approval rating stands at 52 percent after his first month back in the Oval Office, according to a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll. The survey found that 33 percent of respondents strongly approve of his job performance, while 19 percent somewhat approve. Meanwhile, 43 percent disapprove, with most expressing strong opposition, and another 5 percent remain undecided.
Support for Trump remains deeply divided along party lines. About 9 in 10 Republicans approve of his leadership, while nearly 8 in 10 Democrats disapprove. Independent voters are evenly split, reflecting ongoing political polarization.
Polling analyst Mark Penn described the numbers as a solid start for Trump, noting that many of his specific policy initiatives have even higher support than his overall approval rating. He added that Americans appear to be taking a “wait and see” approach, as 58 percent of voters believe he is handling things better than former President Biden.
Trump’s numbers surpassed Biden’s January figures in economic policy, immigration, foreign affairs, and government administration. However, only immigration policies earned him above 50 percent approval.
The survey examined 11 key policies from Trump’s administration, with all but one receiving majority approval. The most popular initiative, backed by 81 percent of respondents, was the deportation of undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes. The least popular, with just 39 percent support, was renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”
While Trump’s approval rating shows a promising start, the real test will be how his administration’s policies unfold in the coming months and whether public perception shifts as results take shape.
