President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday praised a federal judge’s decision to prevent the Biden administration from disposing of materials used for the border wall that Trump had promised to complete before his inauguration. This decision is significant because Trump’s political identity has been strongly tied to his vow to address illegal immigration, which included promises of mass deportations and building a wall along the southern border.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the ruling, announced by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office on Friday, as “a major, crucial WIN for America.” Paxton’s office stated that it had requested an investigation into potential legal violations by the Biden administration after reports surfaced claiming that parts of the border wall were being auctioned off at deeply discounted prices.
The office also announced that the Biden administration had agreed to a court order preventing any further disposal of border wall materials over the next 30 days. This ruling allows President Trump to use the materials for his wall plans, as he sees fit. The court’s order will be enforceable, meaning any violations could result in legal consequences.
