Trump Forced To Withdraw Nomination

President Trump has withdrawn his nomination of Janette Nesheiwat for the position of U.S. Surgeon General and instead selected Dr. Casey Means, a physician known for her work in chronic disease prevention and a strong advocate of the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement.

The decision follows questions about Nesheiwat’s academic background after it was revealed she had earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean, rather than the University of Arkansas as initially stated. That discrepancy, reported by CBS News, sparked concern and ultimately led to the cancellation of her upcoming Senate confirmation hearing.

Nesheiwat, a former Fox News contributor, also drew criticism from some prominent Trump supporters, including activist Laura Loomer, further complicating her path to confirmation.

Trump has now turned to Dr. Casey Means, a Stanford-trained physician and a central figure in the MAHA movement. She is the sister of Calley Means, a close associate of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and currently serving in an official capacity at the department. Together, the siblings have been vocal in pushing for sweeping reforms focused on nutrition, preventative care, and reducing reliance on pharmaceutical interventions.

In announcing the nomination on Truth Social, Trump praised Dr. Means for her alignment with his health agenda and her academic and professional background.

“I am pleased to announce that Dr. Casey Means will be nominated as our next Surgeon General of the United States of America,” Trump wrote. “Casey has impeccable ‘MAHA’ credentials and will work closely with our wonderful Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans.”

He added, “Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding. Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History. Congratulations to Casey!”

The nomination is expected to draw attention both for its bold health agenda and for the growing influence of the MAHA movement in the Trump administration’s public health strategy.
