President Trump took aim at Elon Musk on Sunday in a fiery Truth Social post, slamming the Tesla CEO for launching a new third party in protest of Trump’s recently passed legislative package.
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump wrote.
He continued, “Now he wants to start a Third Political Party even though they’ve never succeeded in the United States. The system isn’t built for them. All third parties do is create Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS and we already have plenty of that thanks to the Radical Left Democrats, who’ve clearly lost their minds!”
Trump’s remarks came shortly after he briefly addressed the formation of Musk’s “America Party” while speaking with reporters outside Air Force One. “I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party,” he said. “He can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous.”
The public feud marks a deepening rift between the two once-aligned figures. Musk had announced the formation of the America Party on Saturday in direct response to Trump’s signature legislative package, which he opposed.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!” Musk posted on X. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
