Former President Trump’s top campaign advisers quickly launched an attack on Vice President Harris following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race and his endorsement of Harris as his successor.
In a statement, Trump campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles criticized Harris, claiming she would be “even worse” than Biden and labeling her as his “enabler in chief.”
The statement came immediately after Biden endorsed Harris, creating an unpredictable election scenario.
“They share each other’s records with no distance between them,” the Trump campaign stated. “Harris must defend the failed Biden Administration and her own liberal, weak-on-crime record in California.”
The letter also criticized Biden’s decision to step down, asserting that he “could not” withdraw from the presidential race while remaining in office.
LaCivita and Wiles further claimed that “Biden is a national security threat in significant cognitive decline and a danger to every man, woman, and child in our country.”
“The question for Kamala Harris is simple: knowing that Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign due to his rapidly deteriorating condition, does Harris believe the American people are safe with Biden in the White House for another six months?” they asked in the email.
At 81, Biden, the oldest sitting U.S. president, has faced significant criticism regarding his age and fitness for office.
Their statement followed Trump’s Sunday comments, where he criticized Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race, warning that the nation would “suffer greatly” due to Biden’s single term.
“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President and is certainly not fit to serve – and never was!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Republicans at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee had already begun attacking Harris, signaling their strategy if she replaces Biden.
On Sunday, Harris announced her intention to earn and win the Democratic presidential nomination following Biden’s endorsement.
