President Trump took aim at major news networks Monday, denouncing their coverage of the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. As questions swirl over how much damage was actually done to the sites, Trump insisted that the strikes were completely successful and accused the media of intentionally downplaying it.
“Everyone knows the sites we hit in Iran were totally destroyed,” Trump wrote on social media. “Only the Fake News would pretend otherwise just to discredit us and even they admit the facilities were ‘pretty well destroyed!’”
Trump specifically called out CNN, ABC News, and NBC News, branding journalists from those outlets as “sleazebags” and blaming them for spreading doubt. “It never ends with these people,” he added. “Their ratings are in the gutter ZERO credibility!”
His remarks followed a high-level Situation Room meeting where he reviewed developments with his national security team, just hours after Iran launched missile attacks on a U.S. base in Qatar in retaliation.
Over the weekend, American forces targeted three major Iranian nuclear sites Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. In a national address, Trump declared the facilities had been “completely and totally obliterated,” a message he doubled down on in follow-up posts.
Despite the president’s assertions, intelligence analysts and international experts have noted it could take time to assess the full extent of the damage. Some sources have suggested Iran may have relocated parts of its uranium stockpile before the strikes, raising further questions about the long-term impact of the operation.
