President Trump on Monday brushed off recent criticism from former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has voiced strong opposition to Trump’s handling of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. When asked by reporters at the G7 summit during a meeting with the British prime minister, Trump said he wasn’t paying attention to Carlson’s remarks and added, “Let him go get a television network and say it so that people listen.”
Carlson, who has been outspoken against any potential U.S. involvement in a war in the Middle East, reacted strongly to Israel’s recent missile strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which resulted in the deaths of several top Iranian military leaders. In response, Carlson accused Trump of being “complicit in the act of war” and warned that the events unfolding in the region could ultimately define Trump’s presidency.
Last week, Carlson took to social media to criticize what he described as “warmongers” pushing for direct U.S. military action against Iran. He specifically called out former colleagues Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, suggesting they were among those urging Trump to escalate American involvement.
While the Trump administration has maintained that Israel acted independently in launching its strikes, U.S. forces did assist in intercepting Iranian missiles fired in retaliation. Trump has avoided taking a firm position on whether the U.S. will become more directly involved in the conflict, signaling a cautious approach.
Carlson, once a reliable media ally to Trump, has played a prominent role in the conservative media landscape. He appeared at the Republican National Convention last summer and featured Trump in a speaking tour during the 2024 campaign. Despite their past alignment, Carlson’s recent shift in tone suggests growing tension over Trump’s foreign policy decisions.
