Records show that thousands of “God Bless the USA” Bibles, linked to former President Trump, were printed in China.
According to the Associated Press, nearly 120,000 of these Bibles were shipped from a printing company in eastern China to the U.S. between February and March.
The cost of the shipments was around $342,000, averaging less than $3 per Bible, based on data tracking imports and customs.
The Bibles are being sold in partnership with country musician Lee Greenwood, and Trump has emphasized the importance of bringing back Christianity and religion to the country.
In a video on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the lack of religion is one of the biggest problems in America, attributing it to many issues facing the country today.
During Trump’s presidency, his administration exempted religious texts, including Bibles, from tariffs on Chinese goods, despite his tough stance on China.
Trump often voices strong criticism of China, while also occasionally praising Chinese President Xi Jinping. He frequently claims his economic policies aim to boost U.S.-made products.
Controversy surrounds the “God Bless the USA” Bibles, particularly in Oklahoma, where accusations have surfaced that the state tailored its Bible-in-schools program to favor the Trump-endorsed Bibles.
Some critics, like former state Attorney General Drew Edmondson, argue that the bidding process for the program seems to lack competitiveness.
Meanwhile, some of Trump’s foreign policy advisors are advocating for stronger U.S. policies toward China, including expanding the military presence in Asia and taking a more aggressive economic approach.
