Trump Does The Unthikable, Dems Shocked

President Trump announced on Thursday that the United States and the United Kingdom have reached a new trade agreement, describing it as a major achievement for both nations. He emphasized that the deal would provide billions of dollars in increased market access for American exports, particularly in agriculture, including beef, ethanol, and other farm goods. While the final language is still being worked out, the administration framed the agreement as a significant step forward.

Trump also highlighted that the United Kingdom has agreed to lower various non-tariff barriers that previously limited U.S. imports and pledged to streamline customs procedures for American products entering the British market. He called the deal “very conclusive” and praised it as being mutually beneficial.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump was joined by phone by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Also present were Vice President Vance, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. Trump praised the U.K. for what he described as a new openness to U.S. trade, noting that the deal marks a shift in British policy.

He said the British market, which he called “a little closed,” is now becoming more accessible. Trump expressed appreciation for the changes, calling the trade pact a positive development for economic ties and political cooperation.

The announcement follows a period of tariff tension, during which the U.S. imposed a 10 percent reciprocal tariff on U.K. goods as part of a broader set of trade actions branded under “Liberation Day.” A week later, amid concerns from financial markets and political allies, the administration paused higher tariffs for 90 days but kept a 10 percent tariff in place across the board.

Both leaders appeared eager to position the agreement as a shared success, underscoring the broader efforts by both governments to stabilize international trade and reinforce their economic partnership.
