Trump Calls Emergency Military Meeting

President Trump announced on Sunday that he is heading to Camp David for a series of high-level discussions with top military and government officials. Speaking briefly with reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump said the meetings would cover “very major subjects,” but declined to elaborate on specific topics or confirm whether any foreign dignitaries would be present.

“We’re going up to Camp David; we have meetings with various people,” Trump said. “We’ll be meeting with a lot of people, including generals and admirals.”

When asked whether he planned to invoke the Insurrection Act a law that would allow the president to deploy the military domestically Trump didn’t rule it out. He suggested that while the protests in Los Angeles were serious, they had not yet crossed the legal threshold of an insurrection.

Shortly after his remarks, Trump posted a message online accusing demonstrators in Los Angeles of violent behavior. In the post, he described them as an “insurrectionist mob” targeting federal agents in an effort to disrupt immigration enforcement operations.

Trump added that he had instructed his Cabinet, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, to take any actions deemed necessary to end what he called “Migrant riots” in the city. He specifically framed the protests as part of a broader effort to resist federal deportation policies, warning that such resistance would not be tolerated.

While no official agenda has been released, the president’s decision to gather with military leadership at Camp David signals growing concern within the administration over the scale and intensity of public pushback on immigration enforcement. The move also highlights Trump’s willingness to consider extraordinary measures in response to civil unrest, even as legal and political scrutiny continues to build.
