Top Singer Slammed By White House

The White House responded critically to actress Selena Gomez after she shared an emotional video expressing sorrow over ICE raids and immigration crackdowns. Instead, the administration released a video featuring mothers whose children were killed by undocumented immigrants, challenging Gomez’s perspective.

The one-minute and 27-second video showcased three grieving mothers who directly addressed Gomez, questioning why she was moved to tears over the deportation of individuals they believe are responsible for violent crimes.

“You don’t know who you’re crying for,” said Tammy Nobles, one of the mothers featured. She shared the story of her daughter, Kayla, who was killed in 2022 by an individual who had entered the U.S. illegally from El Salvador.

“What about our children?” Nobles continued. “They were brutally murdered, raped, beaten to death, and left on the floor by illegal immigrants. Why isn’t anyone crying for them?”

Gomez had come under fire after posting a tearful video to her Instagram account, where she has over 422 million followers. In the now-deleted post, she expressed heartbreak over the stepped-up immigration enforcement efforts by the Trump administration, which include large-scale deportations.

“I just want to say that I’m so sorry. My people are being attacked. The children. I don’t understand,” Gomez said in the video. “I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

Her emotional plea sparked criticism from conservative figures and Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-Texas). De La Cruz dismissed Gomez’s response, calling it a publicity stunt. “Her crocodile tears aren’t about deportations,” De La Cruz wrote, suggesting that Gomez was trying to distract from the backlash against her Oscar-nominated film, Emilia Pérez.

The exchange highlights the divisive national debate on immigration policy, with strong emotions on both sides as enforcement efforts increase.
