Cardi B recently called out former President Trump over remarks he made about protecting women’s health, suggesting he would do so “whether they like it or not.” Speaking at a campaign event in Milwaukee alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, Cardi B addressed Trump’s comments directly, saying, “If his idea of protection means restricting our freedom of choice or ensuring that our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers, then I don’t want it!”
The rapper went on to praise Harris, highlighting her empathy, passion, and dedication as reasons for supporting her. Cardi B’s words received enthusiastic applause from the crowd, underlining her influence in energizing younger audiences.
Trump’s original remarks, which he made just days before, involved his advisors cautioning him about labeling himself as a “protector” for women. Trump doubled down on the term, asserting, “I’m going to protect them, whether the women like it or not.” His statement drew criticism, with Vice President Harris describing his comments as “very offensive,” pointing out that it reflects a disregard for women’s right to make their own choices. Harris emphasized that such rhetoric ignores women’s autonomy, authority, and right to decide over their own lives and bodies, highlighting a troubling pattern in Trump’s approach to women’s issues.
Cardi B, known for her outspoken views on politics, initially chose not to endorse President Biden for re-election, citing “layers of disappointment” and concerns over policies like spending on wars. She expressed feeling that the public had been let down by past promises, a sentiment she shared in a Rolling Stone interview back in May.
At the rally, however, Cardi B revealed that she’d reconsidered her stance on voting in the 2024 election. She admitted that she hadn’t planned on voting this cycle until Harris entered the race, following Biden’s withdrawal in July. “Kamala Harris changed my mind completely,” Cardi B shared, adding that Harris’s vision for the country resonated with her deeply. She concluded by expressing strong trust in Harris, saying, “I believe every word that comes out of her mouth.”
