Tim Walz Wants To Do What To Trump?

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz told fellow Democrats they need to “change the attitude” of the party and “bully the s***” out of President Donald Trump to advance their policy goals.

Walz delivered the remarks at Rep. Jim Clyburn’s fish fry event in South Carolina, addressing Democratic lawmakers and party members.

His comments reflect growing frustration among Democrats after losing the 2024 presidential election, with Republicans retaining the House and flipping the Senate, though by narrow margins.

While party leaders like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer have called for patience, figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders are pushing for more aggressive resistance.

Walz, who ran as Kamala Harris’s vice presidential nominee, urged Democrats to compete in all races, from school boards to swing districts, and to confront Trump-style politics head-on.

He accused Trump of cruelty and corruption in his second term, referring to him as a “wannabe dictator” and a “weak, cruel man.”

At the South Carolina Democratic Convention the next day, Walz said:

“Maybe it’s time for us to be a little meaner… because we have to ferociously push back on this.”

He compared Trump to a schoolyard bully, saying:

“When it’s a child, you talk to him… but when it’s an adult like Donald Trump, you bully the s*** out of him back.”

Walz emphasized that Democrats shouldn’t back down:

“What they don’t want to do is stand toe-to-toe and punch back with someone who’s calling them out.”

He called Trump an “existential threat” and predicted the remainder of his second term will be “a challenging few years.”

Despite the heavy tone, Walz also told the crowd:

“Damnit, we should be able to have some fun and be joyful… We’ve got the guts.”

Walz has not announced a 2028 presidential run but is being floated among possible contenders like Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Gavin Newsom.

He has stayed politically active nationwide, headlining the DNC’s “People’s Town Halls” in swing areas like Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Texas.

In a recent message, Walz wrote:

“For the past few weeks, I’ve been showing up where Republicans won’t… to hear from people the GOP is neglecting.”

A new AtlasIntel poll, praised by pollster Nate Silver, showed Buttigieg as the Democratic frontrunner for 2028 — with Walz notably absent from the options listed.
