- Rocker Bruce Springsteen officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Thursday, ahead of the November 5 election, making him the latest celebrity to support the U.S. vice president in her race against former President Donald Trump.
- Harris has already gained endorsements from several high-profile Hollywood celebrities, including actress Meryl Streep, comedian Chris Rock, and former talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Last month, pop star Taylor Swift also voiced her support for Harris.
- Springsteen shared his endorsement on Instagram, stating, “Donald Trump is the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.” He went on to praise Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, for their inclusive vision for the country, which respects all people regardless of class, religion, race, political views, or sexual identity. Springsteen emphasized their commitment to economic growth that benefits everyone, not just the wealthy.
- The New Jersey-born musician, known as “The Boss,” has earned 20 Grammy awards and an Oscar, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He has a long history of supporting Democratic candidates, having campaigned for former President Barack Obama and backing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
- Many in Hollywood view Harris as their hometown candidate, given her California roots. However, some Democrats worry that an abundance of celebrity endorsements could lead to a backlash, similar to concerns raised during Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, where star-studded support created an image of elitism.
