Supreme Court To Help Trump

Speaker Mike Johnson Urges Supreme Court to Intervene Following Trump Conviction

Speaker Mike Johnson has called for the Supreme Court to intervene following the guilty verdicts handed down to former President Donald Trump on multiple felony counts in New York.

“I do believe the Supreme Court should step in,” Johnson stated during an appearance on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” on Friday. “I think they’ll set this straight, but it’s going to take a while.” Johnson added that he personally knows many of the Supreme Court justices and believes they are “deeply concerned” about maintaining faith in the U.S. justice system.

Before any Supreme Court intervention, Trump must be sentenced and is expected to appeal his New York conviction. This legal process could take months or even years to progress through the court system.

Johnson’s comments come amidst a series of ethics controversies surrounding the Supreme Court. Recently, flags displayed at properties associated with Justice Samuel Alito have raised concerns due to their connection with movements among some Trump supporters to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.

Justice Alito has faced pressure to recuse himself from cases related to January 6 and Trump because of these incidents, though he has declined to do so. Similarly, Justice Clarence Thomas has faced calls to recuse himself due to his wife Ginni Thomas’s involvement in the events leading up to January 6.
