One More Trump Case Bites The Dust

Trump Seeks to Dismiss Georgia Election Interference Case

Former President Donald Trump, following his recent election victory, has formally requested that his criminal election interference charges in Georgia be dismissed.

This comes after two federal indictments against Trump were previously dropped. His legal team is now aiming to achieve the same outcome in his New York case related to hush money payments, as well as this fourth and final case in Georgia. The Georgia case accuses Trump of engaging in a months-long effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state.

The Georgia case has not yet gone to trial and has been stalled for months. The delay is tied to Trump’s appeal claiming that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified due to her alleged personal relationship with Nathan Wade, a prosecutor previously involved in the case but later removed.

In the recent filing, Trump’s lead attorney in Georgia, Steve Sadow, argued that the court lacks jurisdiction over the case. “Before the inauguration of President Trump, this Court should assess its jurisdiction in this matter,” Sadow stated. He further argued that the ongoing indictment and prosecution are unconstitutional.

Sadow urged the court to dismiss the case, stating, “Upon determining that the court lacks jurisdiction, this Court should direct the trial court to dismiss the indictment immediately.”

This filing represents the latest step in Trump’s broader legal strategy to resolve his remaining legal challenges ahead of returning to office. The outcome of this case, however, remains uncertain as the legal proceedings continue.
