San Francisco 49ers defensive star Nick Bosa made a brief appearance during a live postgame interview on Sunday, showcasing his support for Republican presidential nominee, former President Trump, just days before the national election.
While NBC Sports’s Melissa Stark was interviewing three of Bosa’s teammates following the 49ers’ 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, Bosa stepped into the background, directed the camera’s attention to his “Make America Great Again” hat adorned in white-and-gold letters, and then quickly left the scene.
“Nick Bosa with a message there,” Stark commented as Bosa’s teammates laughed and he swiftly moved out of frame.
Later, at the postgame press conference, when a journalist inquired about his display seeming political, Bosa remarked, “I’m not going to talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time.”
Bosa’s alignment with the former president has been public for some time. Prior to being drafted by the 49ers in 2019, he cleared his political tweets supporting Trump, as reported by SFGate. Additionally, earlier this year, Bosa was seen with Trump at a UFC fight in Miami, where they were photographed alongside Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who gave a thumbs-up.
During the press conference, questions also touched on whether Bosa had previously considered publicly showing his support for Trump. “It’s definitely a little easier nowadays, but no, I don’t feel too inclined to do that,” Bosa replied, attributing his restraint to “just a different climate.”
