McConnell Takes A Nasty Fall

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), 82, received medical attention on Tuesday after a minor fall following a Republican lunch meeting. According to a spokesperson, McConnell tripped after the gathering, sustaining a small cut on his face and spraining his wrist.

The aide assured that McConnell has been cleared to resume his normal schedule. Later in the day, he was seen at the Capitol wearing a brace on one wrist and a bandage on his face. When asked by reporters how he was feeling, McConnell replied simply, “Good.”

Earlier in the day, McConnell was observed walking back to his office in the Capitol, accompanied by a medical team and Senate Republican Conference Chair John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who had hosted the lunch meeting.

Senate Republican Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), who stepped in to lead the GOP leadership press conference in McConnell’s absence, reassured reporters that McConnell appeared to be in stable condition after the incident. “He is fine. He is in his office,” Thune stated, directing further inquiries to McConnell’s staff.

Despite the fall, McConnell remains active and continues with his responsibilities, reflecting his determination to fulfill his role in the Senate.
