Latest Trump Approval Ratings Released

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a noticeable downturn, according to a newly released poll from AtlasIntel, widely recognized as one of the most accurate pollsters during the 2024 election. The survey, conducted between March 7 and 12 among 2,550 respondents, found that 47 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, while 52 percent disapprove, marking a decline from earlier polls where his approval and disapproval were evenly split at 50 percent. The poll carries a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.

AtlasIntel’s findings align with other recent national surveys that reflect growing discontent with Trump’s handling of key issues, particularly the economy. The latest YouGov/Economist poll, conducted between March 9 and 11, also found Trump’s disapproval rating had climbed to 47 percent, while Quinnipiac University’s survey from March 6 to 10 recorded his approval at just 42 percent, with disapproval reaching 53 percent. The NBC News poll from March 7 to 11 further highlighted the trend, reporting that 54 percent of respondents disapprove of how Trump is managing the economy, compared to 44 percent who approve. These numbers suggest economic concerns are a driving factor behind his declining approval.

Recent polling also indicates widespread unease regarding Trump’s economic policies, particularly his tariff strategies and inflation management. According to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, 57 percent of Americans believe Trump’s approach to the economy has been too erratic, especially concerning tariffs. His recent move to impose additional duties on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China has raised alarms among economists and investors, with Goldman Sachs estimating these tariffs could increase inflation by 1 percent while hurting corporate profits and triggering retaliatory trade measures.

Voter sentiment on the economy remains a key concern, with the Labor Department’s latest report showing inflationary pressures still impacting everyday costs. A CNN poll conducted from March 6 to 9 found that 70 percent of Americans expect Trump’s tariff policies to make household goods more expensive. Additionally, 61 percent of respondents identified rising prices as the most urgent issue the administration should address. Similarly, Emerson College’s poll found that 48 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s economic management, while only 37 percent approve.

Beyond economic concerns, Trump’s handling of foreign affairs and domestic policies has also played a role in his declining approval. His recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aimed at securing an initial ceasefire in Ukraine, drew mixed reactions. While the agreement to pause attacks on energy infrastructure was seen as a step toward de-escalation, critics argue that it falls short of addressing broader military hostilities. Additionally, his hardline stance on deportations, including a controversial push to remove Venezuelan migrants under the Alien Enemies Act, has triggered legal battles and opposition from the judiciary. His public feud with U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, whom he called a “radical left lunatic” and demanded be impeached, has only intensified tensions.

Despite his declining approval rating, Trump remains more popular now than at the same point in his first term. On March 18, 2017, RealClearPolitics reported his approval at just 44 percent, with a net disapproval rating of -6 points. In contrast, his current rating of 47 percent places him in a stronger position than his first term, though still trailing behind where former President Joe Biden stood at this stage in 2021, when Biden held a 54 percent approval rating.

Looking ahead, Trump’s approval rating is expected to fluctuate based on upcoming political developments. Key issues such as ongoing negotiations in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the economic impact of tariffs, and concerns about a potential recession will play a significant role in shaping public perception. As the administration navigates these challenges, Trump’s ability to maintain support among his base while addressing broader national concerns will be critical in determining the trajectory of his presidency.
