Kamala To Be Awarded What?

Former Vice President Kamala Harris will be honored with the NAACP Chairman’s Award at this year’s Image Awards ceremony, recognizing her contributions to civil rights and public service.

Harris, who was defeated by Donald Trump in last year’s presidential election, made history as the first woman and first person of color to serve as vice president. Before that, she held roles as a U.S. senator from California and the state’s attorney general.

NAACP national board chair Leon W. Russell praised Harris for her commitment to justice and equality, stating, “Vice President Kamala Harris is more than a leader—she is a force of change, driven by an unwavering passion to shape a brighter, more equitable future. It is with great honor that we present her with the Chairman’s Award at this year’s NAACP Image Awards, celebrating her relentless dedication to justice, equality, and the betterment of our society.”

The Chairman’s Award has previously been given to influential figures, including former President Barack Obama, the late Rep. John Lewis, and actor Ruby Dee.

The NAACP Image Awards, co-hosted by the NAACP and BET, will be held on Saturday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California. The event recognizes achievements across various categories, including entertainer of the year, best movie, and outstanding work in poetry.
