Kamala Says Trump Scared To Debate Her

Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Thursday that she is “ready to debate Donald Trump” on September 10, in a debate set to be hosted by ABC News. Harris confirmed her readiness after Trump, who had previously agreed to the debate, appeared to waver and suggested Fox News should also hold a debate, calling ABC “a joke.”

“[Trump] agreed to that previously. Now here he is backpedaling, and I’m ready,” Harris said to reporters after landing at Joint Base Andrews. “I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage. So, I’m ready to go.”

Trump’s initial commitment to debate Harris earlier this week was followed by his push for a debate hosted by the more conservative Fox News network. Trump criticized ABC, prompting Harris to accuse him of “backpedaling.” Despite his criticism, Trump has stated he would still debate Harris regardless of the network and even suggested he would be willing to debate her multiple times.

Harris made her statement after speaking at the Black sorority Zeta Phi Beta’s Grand Boulé convention in Indianapolis. This debate is highly anticipated as it will showcase the significant differences between the two candidates on a national stage, offering voters a clear view of their contrasting policies and personalities.

The September 10 debate is expected to draw significant attention, with both candidates preparing to address key issues facing the nation. Harris’s readiness to debate and her confidence in taking on Trump signal a robust campaign strategy aimed at highlighting her policy positions and leadership qualities.

Meanwhile, Trump’s call for additional debates and his derogatory remarks about ABC suggest a strategic move to appeal to his conservative base and possibly gain more favorable debate conditions. However, his commitment to multiple debates indicates a willingness to engage directly with Harris on critical issues.

As the date approaches, both campaigns are likely to ramp up their preparations, ensuring they are ready to present their cases to the American public. This debate will be a pivotal moment in the race, providing a platform for both Harris and Trump to articulate their visions for the future of the country.
