At a rally in Wisconsin, Vice President Kamala Harris made a direct appeal to women voters, criticizing former President Donald Trump for his stance on women’s health care. She argued that Trump doesn’t fully understand the complexities of the issue.
During the event, Harris played clips of Trump claiming he would protect women and downplaying concerns about abortion if he were re-elected. Trump had also celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and, in a recent town hall, referred to himself as the “father of IVF” (in vitro fertilization).
In response, Harris pushed back, saying, “No, Donald, not everyone wanted Roe v. Wade overturned. Women are dying from sepsis because they cannot access the health care they need.” She also emphasized how couples trying to expand their families through IVF are now facing roadblocks due to the uncertainty caused by the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Addressing Trump’s self-given title, Harris added, “Now, the man calls himself the father of IVF? What does that even mean?” She highlighted the contradiction in Trump’s claims, noting that his policies and judicial appointments were directly responsible for putting fertility treatments like IVF at risk.
Harris continued, “When you hear Donald Trump talk, it becomes more obvious he has no real understanding of women’s health care in America.” She had previously called Trump’s comments on IVF “bizarre” while campaigning earlier in the week.
Harris’s message was clear: she urged voters, especially women, to consider the real-life consequences of Trump’s policies on health care and reproductive rights.
