Greenland To Be Named What Under Trump?

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) has introduced a new bill this week aimed at renaming Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland” as President Trump continues his efforts to acquire the island territory.

The legislation, titled the “Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025,” instructs Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to oversee the implementation of the name change, ensuring that all official documentation and maps reflect the updated designation. It also grants Trump the authority to enter into negotiations with Denmark to purchase or otherwise acquire Greenland.

In a statement released Tuesday, Carter emphasized the importance of the proposal, declaring that America is on the path to expansion and that the new name would reflect the nation’s identity. He praised Trump’s push to acquire Greenland, calling it a national security priority and expressing confidence that the U.S. would soon welcome its people into what he described as the freest nation in history.

Trump has repeatedly voiced his desire to purchase Greenland, a semi-autonomous country under Denmark’s control. He argues that U.S. ownership of the Arctic island is essential for national security.

During his inauguration speech, Trump framed the United States as a growing power seeking to expand its territorial reach. Alongside his Greenland ambitions, he has also suggested the U.S. should retake the Panama Canal and has even floated the idea of annexing Canada.
