Special Poll
Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville predicted that the Trump administration will “collapse” within 30 days, citing what he believes is a rapid decline in public support and internal instability.
“It’s collapsing right now. We’re in the midst of a collapse,” Carville said during an interview with Dan Abrams on The Dan Abrams Show on Friday.
The White House has not responded to requests for comment.
Recent polls suggest that President Trump’s approval rating has dropped, signaling possible concerns from Americans about the policy changes enacted in the weeks since he returned to office.
Trump has taken decisive action on several key issues, including tightening immigration policies, eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, rolling back federal regulations on transgender rights, and empowering Elon Musk to restructure the federal workforce and cut government spending.
These measures have resulted in the termination of thousands of federal employees and the potential downsizing of several government agencies. The administration is also facing numerous lawsuits nationwide challenging its executive orders.
Carville asserted that the administration is already experiencing a major collapse in public opinion, citing a decline in Trump’s approval ratings.
“This is the lowest approval, not even close, that any president has ever had at a comparable time,” he claimed.
He also predicted that Republicans will struggle to pass key legislation, including lifting the debt ceiling or advancing a reconciliation package, and suggested that House Speaker Mike Johnson may be forced to work with Democrats to keep the government functioning.
“That is going to be the equivalent of stacking arms. It’s over,” Carville said.
He suggested that Democrats should remain patient, arguing that the administration’s challenges will only intensify.
“This whole thing is collapsing. We don’t need loud advocacy groups in Washington making noise. Just hold back and wait,” Carville advised.
Carville reiterated his stance in a Fox News interview, stating that Democrats do not need to be aggressive in countering Trump’s policies because, in his view, the administration is already unraveling.
“Poll numbers are declining. The collapse is already underway. Just let the ball come to you,” he said. “We don’t need to be aggressive now.”
While Carville remains confident in his prediction, the Trump administration continues pushing forward with its policy agenda, showing no indication of slowing down.
