Fox News Backstabs Trump

Fox News host Bret Baier expressed his belief that former President Trump is the main barrier to a second presidential debate on his network before Election Day. Speaking on conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt’s show, Baier suggested that while the Harris campaign might be open to a debate on Fox News, Trump seems to have decided against another debate. Baier speculated that Trump, despite potentially attracting a large audience, appears uninterested in another debate on Fox News, a channel that has been supportive of him.

Baier, who regularly communicates with both the Trump and Harris campaigns, feels that Trump and his team are not pursuing another debate, with the issue not lying with the Harris campaign or Fox News. These remarks were initially reported by The Daily Caller.

In a previous debate this month on ABC News, Harris was generally perceived by voters as the winner. Over the weekend, Harris agreed to another debate with Trump on CNN next month, an offer Trump declined, pointing to the commencement of early voting in some states as his reason.

Trump has previously shown preference for a Fox-hosted debate moderated by one of the network’s prime-time opinion hosts rather than Baier or another news anchor, Martha MacCallum. Despite this, many political and media observers consider it unlikely that Harris would agree to a debate on Fox, given the network’s daily criticism of her and President Biden’s policies.
