Crockett Goes After Trump Again

Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas responded on social media Sunday to a personal insult made by President Trump during his recent interview, where he referred to her as a “low IQ person.” Trump made the remark while discussing the state of the Democratic Party, criticizing its leadership and calling Crockett “the future of the party” in a dismissive tone.

Crockett quickly fired back on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, accusing the president of being intimidated by outspoken Black women who challenge him. She wrote that every time he mentions her, it reveals his fear of those willing to hold him accountable, and she encouraged him to “keep talking.”

A spokesperson for Crockett said Monday there was no further comment at this time.

Since taking office in January 2023, Crockett has not shied away from confronting her critics and calling out policies she views as harmful, including actions taken by the Department of Government Efficiency. She has been especially vocal about the Trump administration’s moves to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, as well as federal budget cuts that she argues disproportionately impact vulnerable communities.

Crockett has also had several high-profile confrontations with Republican lawmakers. In one tense House Oversight Committee meeting earlier this year, she clashed with Representative Nancy Mace over a bill banning transgender athletes from women’s sports at federally funded institutions. The exchange escalated when Mace asked if Crockett wanted to “take it outside,” after objecting to being called “child.”

She’s also drawn attention for her blunt criticisms of tech billionaire Elon Musk. In a viral February video, when asked what she’d say to him, she simply replied, “F*** off,” prompting laughter from attendees. Later, in March, she supported a public demonstration against Musk, dubbing it the “Tesla Takedown” and encouraging participation as a birthday wish.

After a heated televised meeting between President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelensky, Crockett publicly apologized to the world for what she called the embarrassing conduct displayed.

Her outspoken style has also attracted mockery. Last month, a conservative comedian posted a video parodying her appearance, sparking further debate online. Crockett has also been criticized for referring to Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” during a press event. She later clarified that her comment was aimed at his immigration policies, not his disability.

Crockett remains a rising figure in her party, known for her direct style and unapologetic stance on issues she believes are critical to her constituents and the broader fight for civil rights.
