Cheney Comes Back To Haunt Trump

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) sharply criticized President Trump for his heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during an Oval Office meeting on Friday, declaring, “History will remember this day.”

During the tense meeting, Trump and Vice President JD Vance clashed with Zelensky, with Trump raising his voice and calling the Ukrainian leader “disrespectful” in front of cameras.

In a statement on social platform X, Cheney condemned the confrontation, saying:
“Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine.”

She went on to say, “History will remember this day—when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.”

The confrontation escalated when Zelensky pointed out that the U.S. had not yet fully felt the impact of the war due to its geographic distance from the conflict. Trump immediately interrupted, saying:

“Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel because you’re in no position … to dictate what we’re going to feel.”

He added, “We’re going to feel very good and very strong. You’re right now not in a very good position.”

Trump further asserted that Ukraine lacks leverage in the conflict, telling Zelensky, “You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards.”

The exchange underscores deepening tensions between the U.S. and Ukraine, as Trump signals a shift in America’s role in the ongoing war.
