Biden Takes Credit For Strong America

President Biden emphasized on Monday that his administration is handing over a strong position to President-elect Trump, particularly in addressing global threats from China and Russia. During his speech at the State Department, Biden defended his foreign policy achievements, stressing the fortified state of U.S. international relations despite Trump’s contentious stances and expansive territorial aspirations.

Biden stated, “My administration is leaving the next administration with a very strong hand to play. The United States is in a better position globally compared to four years ago. We are stronger—our alliances are stronger, our adversaries and competitors are weaker. And we have achieved this without resorting to war.”

Having spent his career deeply involved in foreign policy, including his tenure as the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, eight years as vice president, and four years as president, Biden has focused significantly on international affairs. He entered office with a commitment to rejuvenate America’s alliances, which had deteriorated during Trump’s previous term. He also succeeded in uniting NATO allies and other democracies to support Ukraine against Russia’s aggressive invasion nearly three years ago.

However, challenges remain as Biden concludes his term. Ukraine continues to face difficulties in countering Russia’s advances, and the conflict in Gaza has intensified since Hamas launched attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. Trump argues that these conflicts would not have occurred under his administration.

In his closing remarks, Biden advocated for continued strategic use of America’s diplomatic strengths. He urged, “The United States should take full advantage of our diplomatic and geopolitical opportunities we’ve created. We must continue to unite countries in addressing challenges posed by China, ensure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine against Putin’s war, and leverage the potential for a more stable and integrated Middle East.”
