Special Poll
In a recent video on the social media platform X, CNN analyst Harry Enten critiqued former President Joe Biden’s assertion that he could have defeated Donald Trump in the last election if he had remained in the race. During a farewell interview with USA Today, Biden expressed confidence in his potential reelection, citing unspecified polls as the basis for his optimism.
Enten, however, dismissed Biden’s claim as “flat out bonkers,” questioning the practicality of such a statement. He noted that even before Biden ended his campaign following a challenging debate performance, there were significant doubts within his own party about his chances due to concerns over his age and electoral viability.
The CNN analyst underscored his point by referencing Biden’s consistently trailing performance in polls against Trump, particularly in crucial battleground states. He highlighted that, at the time Biden withdrew from the race, Trump was leading in key Great Lakes states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania—areas critical to securing an electoral college victory. Trump also held advantages in Southern states such as North Carolina and Georgia, and even in Southwestern states like Nevada and Arizona.
Enten’s analysis paints a picture of a campaign that was struggling to gain traction and likely to continue facing uphill battles had Biden stayed in the race. His remarks reflect skepticism about Biden’s assessment of his electoral prospects and suggest a broader narrative of electoral challenges faced by the former president.
