Biden Confesses

President Biden said during an interview that he wasn’t surprised his former vice president lost the 2024 election to President Trump, and suggested critics had taken a sexist approach in their attacks. In the aftermath of the Democratic defeat, tensions have lingered between supporters of Biden and Vice President Harris, but Biden emphasized that she was fully qualified to lead.

Speaking live on The View, Biden expressed disappointment in the election outcome, attributing Harris’ loss in part to Republican attacks he described as sexist. He noted that throughout the campaign, there was a persistent effort to suggest a woman particularly a woman of mixed race was unfit to lead, calling it one of the most consistent smear campaigns he’d witnessed.

Biden framed the election result as part of a broader trend impacting liberal democracies around the world. He argued that public morale had been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which he believes played a significant role in shaping voter attitudes and fueling pessimism.

Throughout the 2024 race, Trump often targeted Harris with inflammatory rhetoric. At one point, as polling showed her gaining traction, he reposted a message on Truth Social insinuating she had advanced her political career through inappropriate means.

When asked about claims that his cognitive function had declined during his final year in office, Biden rejected the suggestion, saying such reports were unfounded. He stated there was no evidence to support those accusations, and dismissed the credibility of those making them.

Jill Biden, who joined him for the appearance, backed him up, asserting that authors of critical accounts weren’t present in the White House and didn’t witness how hard the former president worked each day.

Biden also addressed his decision to exit the 2024 race, saying he stepped aside to avoid splitting the Democratic Party. He emphasized that his move was driven by a desire to maintain unity and avoid weakening the party’s prospects.

He noted that he remains in contact with Harris, describing their relationship as close and ongoing. According to Biden, Harris faces an important decision about her political future, and he expressed hope that she would continue to stay involved in national politics.
